There are people who are given opportunities.
Then there are those of us who have to create them.
I was born with cerebral palsy, specifically spastic hemiplegia affecting my right side. Growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, disability was rarely viewed through the lens of ability or potential. Society often saw limitations before it saw people.
Unfortunately, those attitudes didn't stop outside my front door.
I grew up in a toxic and abusive family environment where encouragement was scarce and criticism was plentiful. Instead of being told what I could become, I often felt like I was expected to accept limitations that others had placed upon me. Those emotional wounds were every bit as difficult to overcome as the physical challenges of living with a disability.
Yet somewhere deep inside, I refused to believe that my story had already been written.
I pursued my education in psychology and mental health counseling because I wanted to help people realize their potential. I believed education would open doors.
Instead, I found many of those doors remained firmly closed.
Like countless individuals with disabilities, I discovered that qualifications alone weren't always enough. Despite my education, skills, and determination, finding meaningful employment became one rejection after another. Whether spoken or left unsaid, I often felt employers saw my disability before they saw my abilities.
Eventually I came to a life-changing realization.
If no one was willing to give me an opportunity...
I would create one myself.
Entrepreneurship wasn't my first choice—it was my only choice.
I didn't have investors.
I didn't have influential connections.
I didn't have family members opening doors.
I certainly didn't have a support system encouraging me every step of the way.
Everything I built came through persistence, long hours, and refusing to give up.
There were moments I questioned everything.
Financial uncertainty became a constant companion.
There were days I wondered if anyone would ever believe in what I had to offer.
But every setback strengthened my resolve.
I wasn't just building a business.
I was building my independence.
As my coaching business grew, I realized I had something valuable to share—not because I had lived an easy life, but because I had learned how to overcome extraordinary challenges.
Professional speaking became a natural extension of my mission.
I wanted audiences to understand that disability does not define potential.
I wanted people to know that resilience can be learned.
I wanted entrepreneurs to believe that obstacles don't have to determine outcomes.
But becoming a speaker wasn't easy.
Conference organizers often overlooked me.
Decision-makers didn't always see someone with a disability as the person they wanted standing on their stage.
Once again, I found myself facing closed doors.
So I kept improving.
I refined my message.
I developed workshops.
I built programs.
I continued speaking whenever and wherever someone would give me the opportunity.
Over time, I learned something incredibly important.
Sometimes you don't wait for someone to hand you a stage.
Sometimes you build your own.
Long before podcasting became one of the world's fastest-growing media platforms, I recognized its potential.
More than twenty years ago, I launched my own show, Live Without Limits, during the early days of internet radio.
At a time when few people understood what online broadcasting could become, I saw an opportunity to reach audiences directly without waiting for traditional media to say yes.
Podcasting changed everything.
It allowed me to share ideas with listeners around the world.
It gave me a platform no one could take away.
It removed gatekeepers who had controlled access for so long.
Most importantly, it proved that you don't need permission to share your message.
You only need the courage to begin.
As podcasting evolved from a niche technology into a global industry, I continued growing alongside it. I witnessed firsthand how podcasts could build authority, create influence, establish trust, and open doors to speaking engagements, media interviews, coaching clients, and business opportunities.
I wasn't simply watching the industry grow.
I was growing with it.
Today, I realize that every obstacle I faced prepared me for the work I do now.
The rejection I experienced as a job seeker taught me how to create opportunity.
The challenges I encountered as a speaker taught me how to build credibility and visibility.
The years I invested in podcasting taught me how powerful your voice can become when you own your platform.
Those lessons became the foundation for everything I now teach.
Through my coaching, courses, and mentoring programs, I help entrepreneurs, coaches, consultants, authors, nonprofit leaders, and aspiring speakers do what once seemed impossible.
I help them build authority.
I help them grow their influence.
I help them become recognized experts in their industries.
I help them create podcasts that attract audiences, opportunities, and sponsorships.
I help them develop professional speaking careers that generate income and impact.
And I help them package their expertise into valuable assets that continue opening doors long after the presentation or podcast episode ends.
I created my Speaker and Podcast Authority packages because I know how difficult it is to figure everything out alone.
No one handed me a blueprint.
No one gave me a proven system.
I learned through trial and error, persistence, and years of experience.
Now, I've organized those lessons into practical, step-by-step systems so others can avoid the mistakes, shorten the learning curve, and build their authority faster than I ever could.
Whether your goal is to become a sought-after speaker, launch a successful podcast, attract corporate sponsors, grow your personal brand, or turn your knowledge into a thriving business, these packages provide the strategies, templates, and tools to help make it happen.
My mission has never been simply to teach people how to speak or podcast.
My mission is to help people discover the power of their own voice.
Because I know what it feels like to believe no one is listening.
I know what it feels like to have doors closed simply because someone underestimated you.
And I also know what happens when you stop waiting for permission and start creating opportunities.
That is the legacy I hope to leave.
Not just a successful business.
Not just podcasts or speaking engagements.
But a generation of entrepreneurs, leaders, advocates, and changemakers who finally realize that their voice matters.
Because when you own your message...
you own your future.
And sometimes the greatest stage you'll ever stand on is the one you had the courage to build yourself.
